Dear Rico Yan,

I'm watching your movie right now on TV. I know it's 45673263495748435467375683747537540869 years too late, but I hope that this message will get to you somehow.

You're more than just a childhood crush. You are my childhood hero. I've dreamed of meeting you someday when I grow up, probably when I'm around 20-ish years old, when I become successful and worthy enough to meet you (and become your wife fiance girlfriend friend).

I never knew that there was a guy that was as responsible as you. You were so young, and yet you have your future laid out for you, not by your parents but, by yourself. You had big plans, and they were coming to life. I wanted to have that same future, to become successful with my own hands, sweat, blood, and tears. You made me believe that I could actually achieve something at such a young age.

One more thing is that, I never knew that there could be a guy so loving and faithful until I met saw you on tv. You loved your family so much and you aren't afraid to show it. You are much braver than all the other people I know. Also, you and Claudine made me look forward to the future. You gave me hope that there will be someone who will come into my life and love me as much as you loved her. You guys made me believe in love.

I can still remember myself crying the day you went to heaven... and the days after that. I'm still sad that I didn't get to meet you or, at the very least, see you in person.

Even though you're not here with us anymore, I still keep that dream of meeting you. If not in this world then, hopefully, in heaven. Thank you for making my childhood a wonderful time to look back to. Thank you for being an inspiration, not only to me but also to all the other kids out there who looked up to you. Thank you for letting us know that we can achieve our dreams, and that we just have to try.
